B.C. Ministry of Education Gr. 9 English Curriculum

PCSS English Transitions 9

We are a class designed to help students Transition...

...from the more highly supported Transitions 8 program (which helps at risk students whether the move from intermediate to secondary grades), to the mainstream classes of the grade 10 level.
In the Transitions classroom, students will receive more one-on-one time with both the instructor and the E.A., due to small class size.  This results in the ability of instructors building rapport with students and becoming very familiar with their needs and interests, allowing for greater tailoring of learning materials to both maximize student strengths and to identify and support areas that need development.
Even more so than the Transitions 8 program, the Transitions 9 program both requires and encourages students to take greater accountability for being more independent in their work.

The goal is that by the end of the Transitions program, students will be able to move into mainstream classes, with the ability to succeed and to ask for help when they need it.

Nothing to read?
Don't worry!

Ms. Carrey keeps a selection of books available in the room for DEAR (Drop Everything And Read!) and to help provide options for students' Individual Novel Studies, as well as Book Blogging.

Check out the widget to the right to get Good Reads reviews, summaries and other info on some of the books available in the classroom and the books we'll be working with this semester.
